Woodland Paper proudly embraces and utilizes a single, effective management system based on the ISO 9001 Quality Standard.
Fiber Sustainability
While recycled fiber is a key element of the traditional model for responsible paper consumption, it is becoming increasingly clear that forest management in the production of the wood used in paper manufacturing, has more fundamental importance than even recycled fiber. The use of alternative fibers, chemical treatment and resulting effluence are other factors important to the responsible purchasing of paper and board. There are several certifications availalble to the consumer to verify and validate sustainable harvesting and forestry practices. Woodland Paper is a FSC, SFI, and PEFC Certified Company and we can provide a wide selection of these papers for your company.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)™
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international, not-for-profit, membership-based organization that brings people together to find solutions to the problems created by bad forestry practices and to reward good forest management. FSC Chain-of-Custody certification provides a guarantee about the production of FSC-certified products. Chain-of-Custody is the path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.
From a customer perspective, the FSC label represents a promise that is being made to them. Chain of custody standards are the mechanism FSC has to ensure that 'promise' is delivered. Operations that have been independently verified for FSC chain of custody certification are eligible to label their products with the FSC logo.
Corporate social responsibility issues are becoming a core component of corporate brands. Dealing responsibly with your company’s footprint cannot only reduce risk, but can enhance your brand if you walk the walk and know how to talk about it. Carrying the FSC-certification logo on your print products tells the world that you support the highest social and environmental standards in the market where you use paper. Your purchase of FSC-certified paper and print products contribute to conservation, responsible management, and community level benefits for people near the forests that provide your paper.
Please Note: In order to use any FSC trademarks, including the FSC logo, initials "FSC", or phrase "Forest Stewardship Council" on a printed piece, your printer must also have chain-of-custody certification. Without this certification, no claims can be printed regarding the FSC-certified content of the paper. Woodland Paper can guide you through this entire process. Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)™
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) label is a sign you are buying wood and paper products from well-managed forests, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit.
Voluntary third-party forest certification began in the 1990s in response to market concerns about forest management and illegal logging, primarily in developing countries. Today, SFI Inc. is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for maintaining, overseeing and improving a sustainable forestry certification program that is internationally recognized and among the largest in the world.
SFI certification also extends to the market. When they see the SFI label on a product, consumers can be confident they are buying wood or paper from responsible sources – whether it is reams of paper, paper packaging or lumber.
From a paper perspective, we understand the Chain of Custody requirements for each sustainable forestry certification program and can guide you through the requirements, the processes, and the available products for these programs. From the selection of the paper through the proper promotion of the selected scheme, Woodland Paper will make the process simple and easy to implement.
